The Vienna Graduate School of Population Genetics is offering PhD positions for international students in the field of Population Genetics. Scholarship Description: Over the past years, Vienna has developed into one of the leading centres of population genetics. The Vienna Graduate School of Population Genetics has been founded to provide a training opportunity for PhD students to build on this excellent on site expertise.

- Understanding the ecology and genetics of an adaptive trait in Drosophila embryos.
- Mathematical models of spatially varying selection in subdivided populations.
- Statistical methods for detecting selective sweeps using genome-wide data.

- Probabilistic models for the population genetics of molecular evolution.

Selection criteria: Candidates who fulfills all the eligibility criteria and other asked requirements will be shortlisted for the interview round. For the third level the applicants will have the opportunity to interact with current students. Furthermore, the applicants are given the opportunity to interact with the prospective thesis advisor to discuss specific aspects of the project. The final decision is made by the faculty, aiming to recruit the candidates with the highest scientific potential
