Dreaming of studying in Germany? The DAAD Study Scholarships - Master Studies for All Academic Disciplines could be your golden ticket. Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, this programme offers talented students from around the world - including Cameroon - the chance to pursue a full Master's degree or part of their postgraduate studies in Germany.

The scholarship covers:

  • Monthly stipend of €992
  • Health, accident, and liability insurance
  • Annual study allowance (€460)
  • Travel allowance

  • Extra financial support for students with disabilities or chronic illness
  • Language learning support, including online and in-person German courses

Note: DAAD does not pay tuition fees, but most German universities have very low or no tuition costs.

Who can apply?

You're eligible if:

  • You have completed your first degree (Bachelor, Diplom) by the start of the funding period.
  • Your degree is not older than six years at the application deadline.
  • You have not been living in Germany for more than 15 months at the deadline.
  • You meet the admission requirements of your chosen German university.
  • You have proof of language skills in the programme's teaching language (German or English).

Special programmes are available for applicants in artistic fields and architecture.

What can you study?

The DAAD funds:

  • A full Master's degree at a state or recognised German university.
  • One academic year in Germany as part of a Master's programme at your home university (credits must be recognised).

Programmes must start in winter semester 2026. You cannot apply for a programme already underway.

How long is the funding?

Scholarships last 10 to 24 months, depending on your course. For two-year programmes, you must request the full period, and your progress will be reviewed after the first year.

Selection process

Applications are reviewed by a panel of experts. They assess:

  • Academic performance and qualifications
  • Quality and feasibility of your study plan
  • Motivation and future prospects
  • Extracurricular involvement and social engagement
  • Equal opportunity considerations

How to apply

  1. Register on the DAAD portal.
  2. Complete the online application form.
  3. Upload all required documents in PDF format:
    • CV (max 3 pages)
    • Letter of motivation (1-3 pages)
    • Admission letter from a German university (or submit later if pending)
    • Academic transcripts and degree certificates
    • Proof of language skills
    • Recommendation letter from a university teacher
    • Optional: extra supporting documents

Applications open in June and close on the official deadline announced by DAAD. Submit early to avoid technical issues - the portal closes at midnight CET/CEST on the last day.
