Eligibility: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered for the Curtin Humanitarian Fund Scholarship:
- Be a current Curtin undergraduate or Postgraduate (by coursework) student
- Be from a refugee-like background, or the relative of such a person, who experienced forced migration and may have entered Australia in a number of ways including:
- Off-shore approved Refugee or Humanitarian entrant
- Onshore, community based Asylum Seeker or refugee
- Temporary Protection Visa holder
- Family Reunion
- Be able to demonstrate financial need

Scholarship Description: The Curtin Humanitarian Fund Scholarship is in accordance with Curtin’s long-standing, formal commitment to Ethics and Social Justice. The scholarships provide financial support to current Curtin undergraduate students who have entered Australia under refugee-like conditions and are experiencing financial difficulties in meeting the costs of pursuing Higher Education. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis depending on individual circumstances.

What does it cover? This need based scholarship will provide a range of awards with a minimum of $1,000 cash payment to support educational costs. The award amount will be depending on the circumstances of the individual recipient and the annual availability of funds. This amount will be paid pro rata if the student’s semester study load is less than 100 credits. The university reserves the right to reduce the amount of assistance provided by the Scholarship award where applicants are in receipt of other scholarships.
Selection Criteria: Applications will be assessed by a selection panel using the following criteria: Demonstrated financial hardship and Responses to questions in application.
Notification: All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via their Official Communications Channel within student OASIS in 6 – 8 weeks of the scholarship closing date.
How to Apply: An applicant must submit a completed application form with supporting certified documents attached to the Scholarships Office at the Bentley campus.
