Project Description

JPO Solutions, in concert with:

  • The Ministry of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts,
  • The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education,
  • The Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation,
  • The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications,
  • The Ministry of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Promotion (SMEs) Agency,
  • EMPRETEC Network, Cameroon,
  • The National Youth Observatory,
  • The Practical Agricultural School of Binguela and many other citizen-driven enterprises,

Is launching the 2018 ‘Project Challenge' in a bid to foster young entrepreneurs in Central Africa via coaching and the award of prizes to youths proposing innovative, replicable and immediately implementable projects.

On eligibility, projects must generate revenue in the short term, span an incubation period of 6 months with a huge potential for innovation; they must tackle effectively an identified problem in the fields of agriculture, breeding, digital technology, art and culture as well as sports and leisure.

Objectives of the competition

The objectives of the competition are to:

  • reduce, among the youths of Central Africa, the gap between academic qualifications and the skills required from them in the area of entrepreneurship and business creation, on the one hand, and underemployment on the other hand;
  • develop the skills of the youth of Central Africa in the area of entrepreneurship and business creation in order to bolster sustainable self-employment and empowerment;
  • award and promote projects that are innovative, replicable and immediately implementable with a huge potential for economic, social and environmental impact.

Advantages of the competition

  • Awarding of prizes to managers of best projects;
  • Promoting selected projects;
  • Offering of free training to winners and a token to other candidates;
  • Ensuring individual coaching for entrepreneurial projects/business creation;
  • Promoting the incubation of enterprises and mentoring best projects.

Applicant's eligibility

To be eligible, the candidate must be:

  • a young individual project manager aged between 18 and 35 years and a citizen from a country in Central Africa

OR

  • a young student mandated by his/her home university or institution of higher education in Central Africa and managing the project promoted by the said university or institution

OR

  • a member of a youth association in a country of Central Africa and manager of a project promoted by the same.

Submission of applications

Applications containing the following items must be submitted to the JPO Solutions headquarters located at Montée Camair, opposite SCB Bank, Yaoundé or online latest on:

June 21st, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.:

  • Project concept note (according to the template provided) available at JPO Solutions headquarters or to download via the following link: HERE
  • Cover letter addressed to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JPO Solutions
  • Photocopy of the national identity card of the project leader
  • Curriculum Vitae of the project leader
  • Subscription form to be withdrawn at JPO Solutions headquarters or downloaded via the following link: HERE

Awards
The award ceremony, slated for June 28th, 2018 in Yaounde, will begin at exactly 4 p.m.
